Relentless sun alleviated only by torrential rain makes summer in North-West Province something of an endurance test aim to come.
Baberspan Bird Sanctuary, some 16 km from Salty Waters, is one of the largest waterfowl sanctuaries in South Africa.Over 350 species have been sighted here including species from afar as Asia, Europe and Russia.Included in the total bird count of 12 000 birds are the Pink backed Pelican, Flamingo,Goliath Heron, Wood Sand Piper, Yellow Billed Stork and the Purple Gallinule. Another not to be missed birding experience is a visit to the Delareyville salt pans, especially in the summer months when thousands of flamingos can be viewed.
